CHAPTER SEVEN: WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT? PART 1

Cutting Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Although there are many ways to release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, countries and individuals can still do a lot to reduce global warming:

• Make fossil fuels less damaging, e.g. by using carbon capture

• Develop new crops that will grow better in a warmer world

• Reduce greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture

• Reduce forest clearance

• Use more renewable energy

• Develop more environmentally friendly fuels, e.g. bio-fuels

• Increase the use of nuclear power

• Build more energy-efficient buildings
